Web-Based Configurable Peer Evaluation System

ES21C has created web-based peer evaluation system for student teams.  The system is highly configurable by the instructor to meet specific needs of their class. Students log in through a web browser, enter feedback about their team members, and later may receive individualized feedback on their performance on the team.

The instructor can configure the types of peer evaluations the students will perform as well as the wording of both questions and the feedback given to students.  Nearly any combination of six different evaluation tools can be used:

  • A simple 1-5 rating of team member performance on multiple criteria
  • A table in which student estimate the contributions of team members on specific tasks.
  • A form that measures the effort and results of each team member and reports that team member’s  efficiency (effort/results).
  • Anonymous comments about team members that are viewable by peers.
  • A single numerical rating (0%-150%) of team member contribution.
  • Anonymous comments to the instructor.
You may use the system operating on the ES21C server by requesting an account or we will send you a copy of the software to install on a server that supports Microsoft .asp. Complete details and instructions can be found at this web site.

It will take approximately one hour to learn to use the system and to configure a peer evaluation to give your students.  If you do not want to invest this time or if you wish to give an evaluation that has been written and validated by others you may want to look at the CatMe system.

This software is distributed under a Creative Commons license that allows you to copy, use, and modify the software as long as you share with others under these same conditions.   Commercial use is strictly prohibited without express permission from Dr. Cheville.
