Dissemination of project results is addressed both within OSU and nationally. To ensure that the outcomes are widely available within OSU the involved faculty will present results semiannually at the campus-wide workshop on student engagement and learning sponsored by the OSU Provost (section 3.2). Additionally, Mr. Elliott will disseminate the curricular and assessment materials and techniques through his role as director of Faculty Support Services. Mr. Elliott's office will create "course templates" based on the developmental model that will contain articles on effective practice, links to workshops that train faculty in these techniques, assessment metrics, and example course material to assist faculty who wish to transition to new teaching styles. Dr. Elliott has already been tasked with this assignment by the OSU provost and is participating in this project to determine how this can best be accomplished.
Beth Reiten of OSU's Digital Library Services, will manage local archiving via the proposed OSU Digital Archive, as well as national dissemination through existing online resources. The materials developed as part of this grant, including case studies, web based learning objects, quizzes, reading assignments, and projects will be submitted to appropriate archive sites such as the National Center for Case Study Teaching in Science [74], the SMETE Open Federation [82], and the Multimedia Educational Resource for Learning and Online Teaching (MERLOT) [83]. Resources will also be submitted to the Connexions project at Rice University [84]. Individual faculty will be responsible for publishing results from the classes they develop in peer reviewed journals. Publication and travel funds are requested for each PI to defray publishing expenses and present conference presentations or short courses in their particular area as well as to represent REAL LIFE at conference sponsored by institutions we partner with such as NCCSS. The PI's have arranged with editors at the Journal of College Science Teaching to publish an article in the issue devoted to Case Studies to report progress on integrating case studies into the curriculum.
